Why Pre-Rolls Are Worth It

A pre-roll is a cone that arrives ready to use: filled, packed to an even density and twisted closed by hand. Nothing is left for you to grind, measure or roll. That sounds like a small convenience, and the convenience is real, but the more interesting benefits are consistency and freshness.

Consistency you cannot get by hand

Packing density is the single biggest factor in how evenly a cone burns. Too loose and it runs hot and fast down one side; too tight and it draws badly. Filling by hand to a set weight, in a cone of fixed dimensions, removes the variable. Every unit in a batch behaves like the last one, which is not something most people manage rolling for themselves.

Portioning without weighing

Buying flower by the gram means deciding how much to use each time. A pre-roll has already made that decision: one cone is one unit. If you are the sort of person who would rather not get the scales out, this is the practical difference.

Nothing to grind, nothing to spill

• No grinder to carry, clean or lose
• No tray, papers or filters to keep track of
• No waste from an uneven roll that has to be redone
• Nothing to prepare when you are away from home

Freshness holds better than you would think

Flower degrades when it meets air, light and heat. A packed cone has less exposed surface than the same flower loose in a jar that gets opened repeatedly. Stored somewhere cool and dark, a pre-roll holds its aroma well. Keep it out of a hot car and out of direct sun and it will still read the way it did on day one.

Flavour is a real choice, not an upsell

When loose flower still makes more sense
